Having a sibling is one of the most amazing and insufferable things in life. You definitely grow up learning how to share everything and how to solve conflict. Kind of… It's great that you have a partner for life, but you also get a partner FOR LIFE, especially if you're twins. Yeah, many of the pros of having a sibling are also cons.

The weirdest relationship I have is with my own little brother. We're really close in age, only a year and a half apart. You would think: "That's great! If you're close, you must have been really good friends growing up!" Yes, and no.

Here's the thing: I was always a lone wolf, even as a child. And my brother was more of an extroverted kid, making friends in every playground and wanting to come with me everywhere I went. Sometimes that was fine, and at other times I couldn't stand it! Over the years, he stopped, of course, and he barely talked to me instead; what teenage guy wants to go out with his sister? And I, on the other hand, stayed pretty much the same… Character development, what is that?

The good thing now is that we're a lot more "normal." After twenty years of figuring it out, we finally did it! Again, sort of. There's a nice balance between us now, and we remember our childhood fights as funny and silly. Don't get me wrong, we fought like cats and dogs, but we also were always there for each other. The love and support were always there, hiding someplace inside our hearts. And I've seen that happen everywhere with different pairs of siblings. You may want to tear each other apart sometimes, but if anybody else tries to get anywhere near your sibling, you'll defend them to the last ditch. And that's really all that matters.
